Who Is Dr. Lauren K?

Hello and Welcome!

My name is Lauren K Russell and I am the founder of The Prehab Review; a place to go to find the best Physical Therapist (PT) for you!

A tid bit about me.  I grew up in a small suburb outside of DC in Montgomery County, Maryland (Go Terps and Ravens).  I’ve played sports my entire life.  I played DII NCAA basketball and currently participate on multiple social league teams for flag football and softball.  I graduated with my doctorate in Physical Therapy from Old Dominion University in 2011.

As an athlete who has had my share of injuries, including a tibial plateau fracture, I know how important it is for athletes of all levels to not only get back to their pre-injury status, but to be better than that pre-injury player they once were.

As a Physical Therapist myself, I am constantly asked by friends, family, friends of friends, and friends of family where to go for rehab.  I’ve also noticed a lot of people are not educated on what physical therapy is either. I made this blog to make that search for the right PT easier for you and to increase awareness of what exactly physical therapy entails.

What I want you to get out of this site is a comforting feeling that you have chosen the most appropriate therapist for you and your diagnosis, be in control of your healthcare.  No two injuries are the same, and with every profession you have the good and the bad.  You want that PT who is competent with their skills instead of that PT who follows the “cookie cutter” approach and is only there for a paycheck. I know a lot of doctors have their own clinics and therapists that they refer to, but if you don’t like what you are hearing from that clinic then it is ultimately up to you to seek out the best person for you. BOOM!!! That’s hopefully where I come in to play.

WHY LISTEN TO MY OPINION?

I’m glad you asked…  As a travel physical therapist helping out with clinics in multiple states, I have had the chance to work in some really awesome facilities with board certified specialists who have helped even me improve my skills as a clinician.  With that being said, I’ve also worked at some clinics that were sub-par to say the least; and their clinicians were pretty much on auto-pilot with patients not seeing results.  Needless to say, the latter clinics are not places I recommend people to when they ask me where they should go.

The mark of being a good clinician is knowing that you may not be the best person for a certain patient; and being able to refer that patient to someone who is more equipped to best handle their rehab.  There have been times where I was in an evaluation, or even during a treatment session, with a patient and I was stuck on where to go next with them.  But as a person who takes pride in seeing results with my patients, I brought in other therapists and got their opinions so that I could give that patient the best chance for recovery.  And that’s what I want to do for you.

WHAT I WANT YOU TO GET FROM THIS SITE

Search for the best PT who matches your goals and provides the most optimal treatment plan, so you can get back to performing on the field/court, at work, and etc.
